Irvine campus makes holiday wishes come true
Staff and faculty members at Brandman University Irvine campus are providing gifts for 60 individuals through the Regional Center of Orange County’s Wish Tree this holiday season. Kelly Rico, senior executive assistant for the Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor of Enrollment and Student Affairs, organized the wish tree.
Regional Center of Orange County (RCOC) coordinates services and support for more than 18,000 people in the county with developmental disabilities. Many families who have children with disabilities have very low incomes and cannot afford to buy holiday presents. Other gifts went to adults, with conditions such as autism, cerebral palsy, epilepsy or intellectual disabilities, who have no families and would not receive holiday gifts without the generosity of people throughout the county.
Those who were unable to participate in the wish tree can still make donations to the center’s Brian’s Fund, named for a young man with a developmental disability who spent his 28-year life seeking to help others. Donations payable to Brian’s Fund may be mailed to Jennifer Casteel, Regional Center of Orange County, P.O. Box 22010, Santa Ana, CA 92702. The account helps pay for emergencies and special needs that are not funded by any other source.
