Hero of the Day – Nov. 10
Military service: I served in the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne) as an MH-60K crew chief from 2005-2011. I graduated from Brandman’s San Diego campus in 2014 with my B.A. in criminal justice with a minor in organizational leadership. What does Veterans Day mean to you? As a veteran, I believe this holiday is for thanking the generations of veterans before us. When I hear the stories of sacrifice and what men like my grandpa experienced in WWII and Korea it amazes me that we had such a large percentage of Americans willing to enlist and endure those very hard times. I think of the Vietnam vets like my father that consisted of men who either enlisted or were drafted after our government catapulted us into a conflict that wasn’t very popular with the public. The amount of support this nation has demonstrated for its veterans today is absolutely amazing. During my time in service I deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom seven times with the Special Operations community, and I continue to thank the generations of veterans that have gone before me that helped pave the way for the United States to have maintained the best military in the modern world.
