‘The Urgency of Now’ discussion draws a crowd

Dr. Laurie Dodge, vice chancellor and vice provost of Brandman University, presented with colleagues at the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) Conference in San Diego on Oct. 15 on “The Urgency of Now – Lessons for Trustees on How Community Colleges Must Change to Serve 21st Century Students”  with Jason Wood, president, Southwest Wisconsin Technical College; Samuel Cargile, vice president and senior advisor, Lumina Foundation; Lynn Priddy, provost, National American University; Nassim Ebrahimi, director, Anne Arundel Community College; and Marcus Kolb, assistant vice president, Ivy Tech Community College.  More than 240 participants were in the audience with key questions about the future trends in serving community college students.

The presenters discussed and signed copies of “Urgency of Now:  Equity and Excellence” following the presentation. The book was released in September. Dodge wrote the chapter “Competency-Based Education.”
