Faculty member helps organize cancer center’s open house.
Dr. Helen Eckmann, associate professor in the School of Business and Professional Studies, may be an expert in strategic thinking, sustainability and supply chain management, but away from Brandman University, her interests include the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute.
Eckmann, a three-time survivor of breast cancer, serves on the center’s Community Advisory Board. The board and center director Dr. Garth Powis are holding an open house on Thursday, Oct. 22, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The evening includes guided tours of the center’s laboratories and a reception, featuring hors d’oeuvres and light refreshments. Tours will take in efforts to hit cancer with targeted nanoscale projectiles, the titan microscope and advances in genome sequencing.
The center is at 10901 N. Torrey Pines Road, La Jolla, California.
