Dr. Laurie Dodge, vice chancellor of Institutional Assessment and Planning and vice provost, spent Thursday, July 30, at the White House for a Symposium on Innovation and Quality in Postsecondary Education.  The working meeting included more than 90 participants who discussed the expansion of high quality, innovative approaches to higher education at a symposium hosted by the White House Domestic Policy Council, National Economic Council and the U.S. Department of Education.

Dodge was one of eight participants asked to speak at the symposium.  She discussed Brandman University’s competency-based  education (CBE) Bachelor of Business Administration degree, highlighting three key elements in building quality competency-based programs:  design, assessment and relevance. Dodge, who is also chair of the Competency-Based Education Network (C-BEN), also said 34 C-BEN institutions are deep in the work of CBE,  advancing scalability, quality and innovation.
