Bryan A. Fazio Scholarship applications now being accepted
Brandman University will award two $1,000 scholarships to veteran students suffering from a medical condition or disability. Nominations now open – deadline Aug. 14, 2015
What would you do if doctors said that you only have about nine months to live? For most people, the answer would not be to double-up on your graduate school classes so you can earn your MBA before you die. But that’s what U.S. Navy veteran Bryan Fazio did at Brandman University in 2012. As it would turn out, the doctors were wrong.

Bryan Fazio
Not only has Bryan survived, he’s living an inspirational life dedicated to helping fellow Veterans. Fazio’s aggressive form of Hodgkin’s lymphoma (diagnosed in early 2010) led to multiple rounds of chemo and two failed bone marrow transplants. Yet, his faith and his experience in the Navy trumped all of the expert dire predictions. Since his diagnosis, he has earned two master’s degrees, one in business administration and a second in organizational leadership from Brandman University, and he is currently enrolled in law school with the goal of focusing his legal career on the challenges veterans face when returning to civilian life.
In 2013, Brandman University created the Bryan A. Fazio Scholarship to honor his brave determination and dedication to assisting other veterans. This year Brandman will award $1,000 scholarships for the Fall One 2015 term to two veteran students who have a medical condition or disability.
“We were so moved by Bryan’s accomplishments and his service to his country that Brandman decided to set up a scholarship to assist military veterans who have health concerns,” said Gary Brahm, Chancellor of Brandman University.
To apply for one of the scholarships, Brandman students who are veterans with a medical condition or a disability, and are in good standing and registered for Fall I, should submit a 500-1,000 word essay on where they see themselves in five years and how their Brandman education will help them achieve their goals. Essays should include name, campus, email address and phone number and should be submitted to bryansfund@brandman.edu.
The deadline for submissions will be 11:59 p.m. on Aug. 14, 2015.
