Professor Lata Murti’s doctoral dissertation has been published in book form.

Dr. Lata Murti, assistant professor of sociology at Brandman University’s Santa Maria campus, has won the annual Excellence Award from Dissertation.com for “With and Without the White Coat: The Racialization of Southern California’s Indian Physicians.”

The winner is selected by the editors of Dissertation.com and BrownWalker Press based on the work’s originality, usefulness, writing style, presentation and potential public interest.

Murti completed her Ph.D. in American Students and Ethnicity at the University of Southern California. She has also served as a consultant to the Smithsonian National Museum of American History for the Our American Journey: Many Voices One Nation exhibit.
