Saskia Knight: Congratulations

Voice Over: The Southern California sunshine didn’t show up on this Sunday morning, but hundreds of graduates from Brandman University’s Southern Region did.

And nobody seems to mind that it’s a cool cloudy day. They’re here in cap and gown, celebrating Brandman Commencement 2015 at the Chapman University campus in Orange.

Music

Saskia Knight: Always the most special day of the year when you see the graduates proudly completing their degree program and you know in the audience, there’s their family members who have helped support them through their entire program. It’s just amazing. And I’m so excited.

Nicole Cartwright: The online program has been great. It worked well with my schedule and my location. So I’m really happy with it. I’m currently employed with the Southern California Gas Co. and I really think that it will help me make that jump into management, which actually I did this week. So I think it’s a great opportunity for me.

VO: No kidding, within a week of getting your MBA, you got a promotion

NC: Yes

VO: How are you feeling today?

Anthonie Etienne:  I am fan-fanbulous. Top of the world, man. Top of the world.

VO: What made you decide to pursue a master’s degree?

AE: You know I figured that I have the opportunity to  facilitate and have a more directive role and with that comes a master’s and licensing for a marriage family therapist so I want to do great things.

Monica Vargas: My husband, my mother, my sister. They’ve all been great. Just thank you so much for all the support  and I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for them.

Ivana Chenier: It’s been hard. A lot of studying, um sleepless nights, but you know I’m thankful that Brandman gave me opportunities to have a life and go to school and the same time and be done in like a year and a half.

VO: What has your Brandman experience been like?

Crystal Castellanos: It’s been amazing. I’ve learned a lot and I plan to start my master’s at Brandman. I’m going to continue my education.

VO: Tell me about your experience at Brandman

Jamie Kincaid: Oh my gosh, I love it. I love everyone there. I would love to go on. I’m tossing around the idea of going on for either my Ph.D. or my Ed.D.

Mark Posner: Every member of the faculty and staff here at Brandman has just been so incredible and I found just an affirming environment. Even classmates – little messages  on the discussion boards, ‘You can do it. Hang in there.”  It’s just such a wonderful environment to study in. And you know pretty quickly from the start of your classes that you can do it because there’s a whole community supporting you.

VO: Did you find Brandman as good place to be as a veteran?

Robelle Church: Definitely, I did my bachelor’s at another college that does work with veterans but Brandman just exceeded everything, all my expectations.

Christine Taylorborn: This is pretty awesome. It’s an accomplishment that I was very much looking forward to. It’s been a running joke. I get a degree about every 10 years and I’m right on track.

Jerry Nieland: Well the faculty was very supportive and Brandman is a great school so I want to thank them for being there and giving me some advice. And I know I’m going to use it for the future.

VO: Tell me about how you’re feeling today.

Rosie Lee: I’m very excited. I’m really happy to be with all cohort so we’re really excited

Latoya Scott: It’s really exciting. I’m so happy. It’s been a very long journey, trying to work full time and go to school full time But at the end of the day, I’m really happy and I have a lot of new opportunities.

Chancellor Gary Brahm: Congratulations to the graduates. You’ve worked so hard. This is the beginning of really exciting careers for you. And we at Brandman University are thrilled to be a part of it.
