Patrick Lilley deconstructs business plans for Business Society

May 20, 2015 by Cindy O'Dell

Patrick Lilley, the CEO of Emerald Logic and a seasoned entrepreneur, was the featured speaker Tuesday at the Brandman Business Society meeting.

Lilley, who has started several companies and once headed the strategy for Toshiba’s mobile computing business, asked if anyone in the room had ever written a business plan. Hands went up all over the room and stayed up when he asked how many hours, days, weeks were spent writing it. Lilley advised them to throw out the traditional 40-page plan and instead concentrate on telling short stories about what the company can do.

The Brandman Business Society is spearheaded by School of Business and Professional Studies Associate Dean Cathy Margolin and assistant professor Dr. Deborah Ferber. Further information is available by emailing
