Brandman well-represented at online learning symposium
Brandman University faculty members discussed competency-based education and degree programs in three different sessions of the Emerging Technologies for Online Learning International Symposium in Dallas, Texas, last week.
Dr. Gerald Lege, tutorial faculty for the pilot competency Based Education (CBE) program at Brandman and Dr. Sheila Lakshmi Steinberg, professor of social sciences, presented “The Brandman Way — An Innovative Model for Competency-Based Education.”
Dr. Melanie Borrego and Dr. Carrie Perry discussed “Competency-Based Education: A Model” and Perry and Tammy Pao presented “From the Trenches: Firsthand Experiences in Implementing an Online Competency-Based Degree Program.” Borrego is an associate dean in the School of Arts and Sciences and an associate professor of English. Perry and Pao are tutorial assistant professors.
