Michaelpaul Mendoza, who is working toward his Master of Arts in education degree at Brandman’s Visalia campus, is this year’s Tulare Joint Union High School District Teacher of the Year. Mendoza, who previously earned his single subject teaching credential at Brandman, helped establish the Harvesting Hope project in Tulare County. The program uses volunteers to harvest fruit at private residences and then donate it to Tulare food banks. The group was recently recognized for their efforts by the California Assembly.
