A passionate odyssey for Brandman education faculty and her family

April 02, 2015 by Guest Contributor

Brandman Riverside faculty member Dr. Lynn Larsen and her husband Paul, an associate professor of biochemistry at UC Riverside, were graduate students at Purdue University when they were first asked to be judges for Odyssey of the Mind, a youth competition unlike anything they had ever seen. Since then they’ve been hooked on supporting the program that aims to teach young people creative problem-solving skills and a whole lot more. They have served as judges, volunteers and coaches. Their twin children participated for years, with son Zach winning a college scholarship from the program. Now, Dr. Larsen serves as the state director of California for Odyssey of the Mind, and the Brandman news crew visited UC Riverside for this video. This year’s state tournament for Odyssey of the Mind had more than 200 teams competing to represent California in the World Championships.
