No Tuition Hike Here
For third consecutive year the nonprofit institution continues tuition freeze
IRVINE, Calif. (September 29, 2014) — At Brandman University, the mission to provide a dynamic education that creates a lasting value for graduates is at the heart of a major announcement from the nonprofit institution today: tuition will not be going up. For the third consecutive year, tuition for all bachelor’s and master’s degree courses will remain at the same levels for the 2014-15 academic year as they were for 2012-13. The freeze also applies to continuing students in the doctor of education program; tuition will remain fixed provided students continue to advance within their original cohort.
“We want to continue to demonstrate our commitment to leading the evolution of adult learning,” said Chancellor Gary Brahm. “It is important that we recognize the challenges our students face in pursuit of higher education within the current economic climate.”
According to the most recent report on college pricing from the College Board, a nonprofit education advocacy organization, the 2.9 percent increase in tuition and fees at public four-year institutions in 2013-14 followed increases of 4.5 percent in 2012-13 and 8.5 percent in 2011-12.
California’s public universities enacted the highest average tuition increase of any state last year (21 percent), the annual study found. The state enrolls a tenth of the nation’s public four-year college students, but even excluding California, tuition prices at such colleges rose significantly nationwide last year, an average of seven percent.
