What’s on your desk? Miguel Aranda
Want to hear a great story? Look no further than Miguel Aranda’s office at Brandman University’s Menifee campus. The site director and senior academic advisor believes his desk absorbs the stories he hears from his students. “Every time I come to work I am surrounded by memories of the amazing people who have done amazing things, and now they are determined to finish a degree on top of it,” Aranda said.
Out of the four workspaces Aranda has sat at throughout the Temecula Valley area, his desk located in the 3000 building on the backlot of Mt. San Jacinto College is his favorite. Although it’s not a traditional location, Menifee students enjoy how close the site is to the freeway.
Aranda, who has been with Brandman University for five years, decorates his desk with coffee mugs and adorable artwork from his four children. He says both are very integral to his job, “I use the cups for the coffee I need to do all the work we do and the stuff from my kids to remind me why I do it.” Aranda’s favorite desk trinket hands-down is his heart-shaped stress ball from Brandman’s wellness program, Healthy U. “I can’t live without my stress heart because sometimes I drink way too much coffee,” he said.
As welcoming as Aranda’s office is, it’s his contagious pride in his students that might stand out the most. “If you could hear the stories my desk has heard, you would want to be here in Menifee too,” he said. What’s on your desk?
