Brandman establishes a new Equity Inclusion and Diversity Committee
To better serve the increasingly diverse student population, Brandman University has launched a new Equity, Inclusion and Diversity committee (EIDC). The purpose of the EDIC is to acknowledge and recognize the diverse backgrounds and life experiences of the Brandman community and make recommendations on how the university can develop a more diverse curriculum, campus community, and culture of inclusion that will prepare its staff, faculty, students, alumni and board with the cultural competency they need to be successful in today’s environment.
Chancellor Gary Brahm first announced the EIDC formation during his December 2018 State of the University. The inaugural meeting on March 29 at the Irvine campus included close to 50 volunteers representing almost all areas of the Brandman community: staff, faculty, the board of directors, administration and alumni, and chaired by Saskia Knight, executive vice chancellor of enrollment and student affairs. Student participation is anticipated and forthcoming.
In the coming months, the EIDC will define key objectives and goals. Suggestions and feedback are encouraged for anyone in the Brandman community and will be accepted on a soon-to-be developed section on My.Brandman.edu.
