EdSource: Changes to special education teacher preparation expected to have big impact on schools
EdSource quoted Anne Spillane, associate dean of special education, for an article explaining the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing's promulgation of new standards designed to cultivate the skills that future Golden State special education teachers will need to create learning environments in which there will be fewer boundaries between the realms of special education and general education.

“It represents a big cultural shift. It’s no longer, ‘Those are special ed kids’ and ‘These are gen ed kids.’ It’s, ‘These are all our students,’” said Anne Spillane, an associate dean of special education at Brandman University who sat on the commission’s special education task force. “The changes to the standards reflect that.”
