Five Brandman campuses chosen to host California Teachers Summit
A coalition of California colleges and universities is inviting teachers to a July 31 summit featuring nationally known keynote speakers, a chance to share successful classroom practices and access resources for implementing California educational standards, including the Common Core.
Brandman’s Irvine, Roseville, Victorville, Visalia and Yuba City campuses have been chosen as sites for the one-day summit and members of Brandman’s Extended Education and Outreach departments are busy contacting school superintendents, county education departments, Brandman alumni and teachers in nearby districts.
The summit is aimed at those teaching pre-kindergarten through 12th grade in California and school administrators. People with teaching credentials are also encouraged to attend.
New Teacher Center, the Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities (AICCU) and California State University (CSU) are hosting the teachers summit with the support of grants from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The event, which runs from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. is free. A .5 unit continuing education credit will be available to teachers at a minimal cost.
