Naval Station Coronado open house attracts a crowd
Carmen Gonzalez, an academic advisor with the Online campus who spends three days a week at Naval Station Coronado, organized a multi-college open house designed to introduce Navy personnel to their education choices.
“The open house was a tremendous success,” said Jaimee Brownlee-Turgeon, director of student services for the Online campus. “There were many conversations with individuals related to their personal education plans and with Naval education leaders related to how Brandman may assist the individuals they are responsible for supervising and supporting. The amount of work that Carmen dedicated to this open house was evident in the high attendance levels. Numerous compliments were received by Brandman personnel throughout the open house from Naval officers and personnel.”
Attendees included the naval education officers who guide naval personnel in their college pursuits, members of the Department of Veteran Affairs, members of Fleet and Family Services and numerous naval personnel.
In addition to Gonzalez, George Watson, the Community and Corporate Relations manager at Brandman’s San Diego campus; Mitali Gadhia, Online academic advisor, and George Roberts, assistant director of the Online campus, attended the event. The online campus provided refreshments and the San Diego campus made sure there was plenty of Brandman swag for the 50 attendees to take home.
