Brandman University Closes All Campuses to Protect Community from Growing Coronavirus Threat

March 18, 2020 by Brandman University

IRVINE, Calif. (March 18, 2020) – Brandman University today closed all campuses to students and the public, as employees began remote work assignments given in accordance with social distancing directives intended to reduce spread of the novel coronavirus disease, also known as COVID-19.

The university has 25 campuses in California and Washington, states where community transmission of the disease is occurring.

Campus closures and remote work arrangements will be in effect until further notice. Today’s actions are the latest in a series of measures Brandman has enacted to reduce the risk of community transmission of the new disease. These measures include the shifting of all blended classes to entirely online formats.

Brandman announced the switch to entirely online classes on March 5, shortly before the first day of Spring Session II instruction. Credit-hour courses went entirely online on March 9, and School of Extended Education classes followed suit shortly thereafter. Brandman is a national leader in online education, providing about 85 percent of credit hours online prior to enacting emergency policies.

Brandman is providing employees with technological resources to enable their continued ability to provide student services for the duration of the ongoing public health crisis. University leaders will rely upon guidance from public health authorities to determine when campuses will reopen.
