Newly promoted principal earned his master’s at Walnut Creek campus

Travis Bell, who earned his M.A. in teaching from Brandman University’s Walnut Creek campus, becomes the new principal of Acalanes High School in Lafayette, California, on July 1.

Faculty member Alan Enomoto remembers Bell as “an absolutely phenomenal student” while taking EDUU 600 Research and Evaluation Methods. 

Bell is the associate principal at the school and, according a report in the Lamorinda Weekly, was chosen after a statewide search to take over the position of outgoing principal Allison Silvestri.

“As we proceeded through a very rigorous interview process, it became more and more clear that Travis Bell would be an ideal fit for the desired profile,” said Acalanes Union High School District Superintendent John Nickerson. The hunt for a replacement included a stakeholder survey that asked for student and teacher input.

Bell previously taught English served as the leadership teacher at Dougherty Valley High School, before moving into Acalanes administration in 2012. He has a Bachelor of Arts in communication from UC Davis.
