U.S. Veterans Magazine Names Brandman University to its List of Top Veteran-Friendly Schools for 2014

Brandman is one of 145 schools nationwide to make the list

IRVINE, Calif. (August 19, 2014) — U.S. Veterans Magazine has named Brandman University to its list of Top Veteran-Friendly Schools for 2014. The magazine polled hundreds of colleges and universities for this year’s “Best of the Best” evaluations and Brandman University was one of 145 schools to make the list.

“Twenty-three percent of Brandman’s student population identifies as active duty military, veterans or their families,” said Gary Brahm, chancellor of Brandman University. “With that large a percentage, there becomes a great responsibility on our part to support these students and provide an affordable and meaningful education.”

Brandman recently received a grant of $99,600 from the Ahmanson Foundation to support the University’s Office of Disability Services, which assists the educational journey of veterans who are suffering from various disabilities. Of the new students who register with the Office of Disability Services, approximately 70 percent are veterans who have been deployed between one to three times.

“It is important we do everything we can to support those military service members and veterans transitioning to civilian life,” said Dr. Loren O’Connor, Brandman University’s director of ADA Services.

Each year, DiversityComm, Inc. (DCI) and it’s four diversity magazines conduct select evaluations of the nation’s employers, supplier diversity programs and executives, industry leaders, law enforcement, government workers, and colleges, universities and MBA schools.
