Dr. Cheryl Sjostrom is an Assistant Professor, School of Education, recently joining the Brandman Education team as full time faculty in 2011. Since 2006, Cheryl was an adjunct faculty member at Brandman University teaching courses in special education.  Cheryl completed a Master’s degree in Education, Special Education at California State University, Los Angeles and another Master’s Degree in Educational Administration at California State University, San Bernardino. Cheryl completed her Doctorate of Education, Organizational Leadership at the University of La Verne in 2009, focusing on the needs of administrators in the field of special education. 

Cheryl brings a wealth of information and experience from the public schools in positions at the site, district and county office levels for over 34 years.   Dr. Sjostrom was a teacher, Principal, Program Specialist, Program Coordinator, and Director of Special Education serving general education and children with special needs, ages birth to twenty-two with various types of disabilities and specialized programs. As an administrator, Dr. Sjostrom was recognized for her contributions to the field and awarded ACSA’s Region 10 Central Office Administrator of the Year, Redlands Unified School District Administrator of the Year, California State University, San Bernardino Educational Administration Alumni of the year and California State University, San Bernardino Educational Administration Student of the Year.

Provided leadership, legal support and expertise to district administration, school site principals, school site administration, school-site counselors and staff. Responsible for district special education programs of approximately 2600 students with special needs, ages birth to twenty-two years. District size is approximately 21,000 student ADA with students services provided at 15 elementary schools, 4 middle schools, 3 comprehensive high schools and 1 continuation school.
