Independent Study courses are self-paced, project-based courses designed to enhance curriculum development and encourage individual growth. They provide a framework for exploring a topic or strategy, but allow teachers to choose their own foci and readings (from a recommended list). Choose a topic from our list, reflect on a conference or seminar you’ve attended, or design your own course if you don’t see your topic of passion represented (Special Project for Individualized Learning). Topics include:

Learning Circles is designed for groups of three or more individuals who would like to get together to discuss a quality book or topic, with the purpose of improving professional practice. The courses are based on a book chosen by participants using the guidelines and rubric provided in the syllabus. This program is ideal for after-school planning, grade-level meetings, book clubs, or other venues that encourage meaningful professional discussions.
In Learning Circles: Professional Conversations for Change, a group examine a chosen book (or set of resources) that responds to a need in their schools/districts and create an Action Plan based on those conversations. Groups can choose to review that Action Plan in Learning Circles: Practical Applications according to the action research model, to start determining what really works and what doesn’t.

This four course online series, co-sponsored by Link Autism Leadership, focuses on educational, social, and behavioral support strategies effective when working inside and outside the classroom with students on the autism disorder spectrum. Courses may be taken individually or for a Certificate of Completion.
